There is so much information out there for mamas who want to incorporate yoga into their lives. There’s almost too much…so why do I want to add to it? Well, I’m not exactly trying to reinvent the wheel. I just think that every mama’s perspective counts and it’s all about each one of us sharing our stories. So, Yoga Mama is going to be my outlet for sharing my story as it unfolds.
The other day, my daughter, Ariana, was lining up her bath toys on the kitchen table and it made me think of getting my ducks in a row, so to speak. I want to tell my story as a Mama Yogi, but I also want to tell it well. So after some thought, I’ve decided to delay the launching of Yoga Mama’s weekly newsletter until August 2, 2018.
Until then, I’ll continue to share brief posts as spring flows into summer. During this time, I’ll be exploring my own practice and talking to other Mama Yogis and moms in general about what it is they learn and seek in their yoga practice. I want to provide a creative, user-friendly newsletter that really helps moms feel that yoga can be for everyone. That’s why sometimes we have to make up ‘poses’ and yoga sequences, because every body and situation is different and we must fit the yoga to each individual person and not the person to some idealized version of what yoga is for others.
So, I’m going to spend the rest of the spring and most of the summer practicing on and off the mat, organizing the yoga sequences and tidbits I’ll share in the newsletter. Oh yeah, and hitting the beach now and then to do some off-the-mat yoga, too.
